FrOSCon is one of the most important open-source conferences in the German-speaking world. It will take place on August 22 and 23, 2026 at the Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences in Sankt Augustin and offers a diverse program focusing on free software, Linux, and open technologies.
SerNet is featured in the conference program for the first time with two technical presentations: In “Opening Windows to a Wider World,” Volker Lendecke demonstrates how Samba has long since evolved beyond the traditional file server to become a central infrastructure component for Linux, BSD, and heterogeneous networks. Claudia Krell and Ralph Böhme from the Samba Foundation will present “Association Registry Instead of a Rewrite: How Samba Is Getting a New Foundation,” Claudia Krell and Ralph Böhme from the Samba Foundation will provide insights into the founding of the Samba Foundation and demonstrate how new organizational structures support the project’s long-term development.
