SAMBA+ 4.9.5 has just been released by SerNet. Packages for various SUSE and Red Hat platforms as well as for Debian GNU/Linux and Ubuntu are available now.

These packages address a lot of issues, which are listed in the Samba release history:

The GlusterFS VFS module is now also available for openSUSE Leap 15 and SLES 15. The module provides the option to access a Gluster filesystem through the libgfapi directly and is packaged with the new glusterfs_fuse module in the sernet-samba-vfs-glusterfs package.

The SAMBA+ repositories are signed with the ppg build key of the SerNet Samba Team to guarantee authenticity. This build key has been extended. The new key expires on May 24th 2020. The old key expires on June 14th 2019. Please make sure that the build key will be updated soon.

Considering the upcoming release of Samba 4.10.0, SAMBA+ 4.10.0rc4 packages are available for testing purposes in the preview area:

  • Bug 13768 - group quotas are not displayed
  • Bug 13728 - python-gpgme unsupported and replaced by python-gpg

Ticket sales for sambaXP 2019 has started. The annual meeting of the international Samba community will take place from June 4th to 6th at the Hotel Freizeit In in Göttingen. Tickets are available until February 28th, 2019 at the Early Bird price of 399 Euros. The Call for Papers is still running, and submissions are still welcome. Tickets and more info on the CfP are available here: sambaxp.org

On March 1st the "normal" sales phase will begin, ticket prices will bei at 499 Euros. The conference fee includes participation on both conference days (Wednesday, June 5th and Thursday, June 6th) including catering and a social event on Wednesday evening. In addition, a tutorial can be booked on Tuesday, June 4th: Long-time sambaXP speaker and Samba trainer Stefan Kania will focus on "Creating and managing Trusts with Samba 4.9". The costs for this are 450 Euro. Accordingly equipped and prepared computers for the tutorial are available.  

The sambaXP 2019 is sponsored by Google, Microsoft and Red Hat. This year's organizer is again SerNet GmbH, which wants to promote the exchange among Samba developers and users from all over the world with the conference.
